First groups of 186 Senegalese temporary workers have arrived in Spain - 744 more are expected to join them soon. These temporary workers are employed in the strawberry fields of Huelva for a period of 3 months and receive 36 Euros a day.
Most of these are women between 18 and 40 years of age, and have been chosen from thousands of candidates who expected to benefit from this hire program, launched as an alternative to illegal immigration. Read more

Brussels suggests the necessity to record foreigners upon their entry in the European Union. The proposed plan includes the possibility of creating an electronic system of authorization to travel to the EU and a register of low risk travelers. The aim of this plan would be to reduce illegal immigration, terrorism and organized crime. Read more
