80% of the Balearics don’t go to libraries
January 6, 2008
A recent study shows that 80% of the population on the Balearic Islands does not go to the libraries. Top reasons appear to be “lack of time” and “lack of interest”. The study made by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the National Institute of Statistics, shows that the percentage is considerably higher than the national average - which is that 67.6% of the population “never, or rarely” goes to the libraries. There is even a 6,7% of those questionned that don’t know if a library exists in their area and a shocking 5,8% that don’t know the functioning of a library.
