Spain sees the highest inflation rate in 10 years

January 6, 2008

Inflation in SpainThe inflation rate in Spain is definitely not its best attribute right now. December saw the accelerated rise in inflation, well ahead of expectations. Final figures have not been published for the year, but November’s inflation was at 4.1%. The recent studies from the National Statistics Institute will be publishing definitive data on January 15th.

Mainly due to higher food and energy costs, Spain has seen the rapid rise in its inflation rate, currently the highest rate in over ten years. This is definitely not good news considering that unemployment has been rising steadily over the last three months, and the real estate market is definitely over the big boom.
